Colostrum (first breast milk) is often called "liquid gold" for a reason; it helps to protect your baby from infections and builds their immune and digestive systems. Hand expressing and storing your colostrum while you are pregnant allows you to have your milk on hand at birth. 

I will provide instruction on breast expression, assistance in collection and discussion of proper storage. For most women, expression is considered safe starting at 37 weeks; consult your physician or midwife prior to booking an appointment.

Want to be ready BEFORE baby comes? We will help you to get the best start with however you choose to feed your baby.

I will discuss lactation and supply, basics of breastfeeding and needs of the mommy-baby dyad.  We will review your health history, any previous feeding experience and discuss your feeding goals, questions and concerns.

Not planning on breastfeeding or planning on combo feeding? No worries, I can help with that too! We can discuss alternative feeding options and milk supply management.

Is my baby getting enough milk? Should breastfeeding hurt? Should I give formula?

You will receive one-on-one support to answer these questions and any others you may have. We will review of your health history, discuss your feeding goals and concerns, observe a feeding session, assess baby's growth, assess feeding intake and provide hands on support. Together, we will create a plan of care that is tailored to you and your baby's needs.

Is my pump working right? How much milk should I be making? Which bottle should I use?

This service is perfect if you are exclusively pumping, just starting pumping, pumping to increase supply, separated from baby, returning to work or just needs more support with their pump. 

Did you know there is a method of bottle-feeding that allows the baby to control the pace, reduce overfeeding, discomfort and fussiness and can improve the feeding relationship between you and your baby? 

I can help with all of your pump and/or bottle-feeding questions. Together, we can create a feeding plan is right for you and your family.

It may take several days or weeks for feeding concerns to improve or resolve and may require alterations in the original care plan.

Needs or feeding goals may change and require further support and guidance down the road. You may want a follow-up assessment to reexamine, reinforce, or reassure that your feeding routine is effective.
